Finally had a chance to visit Pulau Lang Tengah or Lang Tengah Island! I have long heard about the paradisiacal beaches and secluded vibes of Pulau Lang Tengah where some say it's the Maldives of Terengganu. Located at around 45 minutes speed boat ride from Merang Jetty, Terengganu, Pulau Lang Tengah is the crown-shaped island situated between Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian. We stayed at Summer Bay Resort, which is located on the island's most beautiful beach.

Merang Jetty is located at about one-hour drive due North from Kuala Terengganu Town. There is an airport at Kuala Terengganu (Sultan Mahmud Airport) which services domestic flights. The resort also provides land transport pick-up service from the airport to Merang Jetty if you are not driving.

There is a carpark nearby with a parking fee of RM15/night

Day 1: Arrival at Pulau Lang Tengah

We took the 1030am boat and when we arrived at Pulau Lang Tengah, we were greeted by friendly staffs of Summer Bay Resort and served with welcome drinks. They also conducted a guest briefing which I missed as I was too excited to take photos so make sure you stick around for the briefing!

Summer Bay Resort

As I explored around the resort vicinity, I was highly impressed by the cleanliness and friendly vibes. And it's the first island resort (that I've been to) to have a 50m Olympic-length swimming pool! Besides, the resort is also equipped with a dive base, convenience shop, canteen and a couple of restaurants.

Do you agree?

Convenience shop well stocked with necessities and beach essentials

Restaurant De Lang where our meals are served buffet-style. Plenty of choices!

Beachfront Mamak stall. Highly recommend their Kampung fried Rice!

The Room

There are altogether 8 types of rooms available at Summer Bay Resort. I stayed at the cheapest Garden View Room which is tugged behind the swimming pool. If your budget allows, I highly recommend the Deluxe Pool Access Room as it has a private ground floor balcony that leads directly to the swimming pool!

The room was very clean, cozy and is equipped with aircon, water heater, TV and a mini fridge. I couldn't be more impressed by the amount of work put in to maintain these rooms day in day out.

Snorkeling around Lang Tengah

We were brought to a couple of snorkeling points around Lang Tengah in the afternoon. The reefs here were beautiful and underwater visibility was good. We also spotted some corals planted on the sea bed.

Corals planted on the seabed which was a nice touch to revive the marine life

One thing I like about Lang Tengah was that you don't really need to go very far from the beach to see beautiful corals and marine life. In fact, there is a shallow Nemo reef right in front of the resort's jetty and is full of cute little Nemos! It was my first time coming so close to these cuties because usually these reefs are located several metres deep.

And there are baby sharks too!

You can spot baby sharks near the jetty early in the morning or late evening =)

Blue Sand Tour

As night falls, we assembled at the lobby for the Blue Sand Tour. Blue Sand are actually bioluminescent planktons that emit faint blue light as they hit the shore. It can only be seen at very few places and Pulau Lang Tengah is one of them. We were guided to the jetty at the far end to observe these Blue Sand. Well safe to say, it was not as spectacular as the one I saw at Pulau Sembilan.

Day 2: Morning Snorkeling at Pulau Perhentian

We were given the option of a morning snorkeling at Pulau Perhentian or Pulau Redang. I opted for Pulau Perhentian as I have already been to Redang. We snorkeled at 2 spots near the Pulau Perhentian Besar Marine Park and I have to say the reefs at Pulau Perhentian was more beautiful than those around Lang Tengah. We also saw some pink jelly fish!

After about an hour of snorkeling, we had a rest on the beach sipping down my favourite mango juice. You can also do some shore snorkeling here and you may find some turtles lurking around if you are lucky!

Beautiful beach at Pulau Perhentian Besar

That's what you call a perfect beach day!

The rest of Day 2 was pretty much free and easy. I did some laps at the pool as well as some open water drills just to keep my belly in check from all the buffet pampering. I really like how peaceful the beach here is - you know, just laying on the hammock and take in the beautiful view with the sound of gentle waves caressing the shore.

Just chilling on the hammock

Oh yea you can also walk towards the left end of the beach (as you are facing the sea) where Sari Pacifica Resort is located. Walk till the end and you will see some beautiful rocks which are perfectly Instagrammable!

Sometimes you can see flocks of seagulls here!

Day 3: Goodbye

We packed our stuffs and prepared to take the 1130am boat back to Merang Jetty. Time really flies when you are enjoying doesn't it. Even till today I am still thinking about the serene beach of Lang Tengah. Will definitely visit Pulau Lang Tengah again next year!
