Changi is located at the very East of Singapore. This morning I visited the scenic Changi Point Coastal Walk (also known as Changi Boardwalk) stretching from Changi Village at Netheravon Road to Changi Beach Club near Cranwell Road.
Due to its remote location, I took a cab and alighted at Changi Village. Changi Boardwalk is also accessible via public transportation which I will share in the Getting There section. To access Changi Boardwalk, head towards the Changi Point Ferry Terminal on your front right. You should pass by a carpark and see the ferries/speedboat docking by the jetty. Opposite the ferry terminal is Changi Beach Park, an islet with cycle paths and sandy beach which you can access via a concave pedestrian bridge. However, if you are exploring Changi Boardwalk, just head left from the ferry terminal and walk along the coast.
There are five segments along this 2.2km coastal walk:
Creek Walk
The Creek Walk begins right after the ferry terminal. Loving the sea breeze here!Check out the lookout point here. It's the perfect spot to catch passing by ferries and speed boats. And fishing!
Beach Walk
The Beach Walk follows right after the Creek Walk as wider stretches of sandy beach unfolds before your eyes. However, beaches here are not as beautiful as those in Sentosa Island. There are also some chalets by the beach too!
Sailing Point Walk
As you pass by the Beach Walk, you will notice more and more sailor boats and yachts appear by the shore. All of a sudden the carefree feeling sets in as you see "sailors" sailing pass you and you don't feel like going to work again. Glad to see young kids are learning how to sail now! Feel so atas here.
Now let's head over to the next "themed walk". I see some green. Where will this route lead to?
Cliff Walk
Now on towards the second half of the coastal walk. I was looking forward to this segment expected some coastal walk by the cliffs like those in Jeju Island. Alright I'm day dreaming too much. There is no cliff in Singapore. Just flights of wooden stairs leading you up to a canopy walk. Although it's a short walk, glad that there are some green sheds here as it is already in the middle of the day.
Kelong Walk
After enjoying some cooling time under the shed, it's time to get off the "cliff" and head towards Kelong Walk! Kelong, one thing comes to mind - fishing!Kelong Walk marks the end of the Changi Boardwalk experience. There is actually another small stretch of Sunrise Walk according to the map. But I realized that it is just a lookout point dead end after the Kelong Walk.
Looking back, it was a fun and interesting journey along Changi Boardwalk. I like the theme changes as I cross over each segment. My favourite is definitely the Sailing Point Walk. The course is a 2.2km walk so it shouldn't take you more than one hour to complete it. After Kelong Walk, you should exit through Cranwell Road. Walk up the road for about 5 minutes and turn left into Netheravon Road and walk another 3 minutes until you reach the bus stop. Take the only bus that passes by here which is bus no. 29 and alight at Changi Village Terminal which is at the entrance of the Boardwalk.
